Guitar Competition 2012
GUITAR COMPETITION
The guitarists who take part in the lessons of the Twents Guitar Festival 2012 can also participate in the Guitar Competition 2012. This competition is held throughout the entire weekend:
the 18th of May: qualifying round for the 1st category
the 19th of May: competition of the 2nd and 3rd category
the 20th of May: final of the 1st category
The competitors are placed in three categories:
3rd category: guitarists up to the age of 15:
6 minutes; programme of free choice
NB competitors in the 3rd category can also participate as a duo/ensemble, under the following conditions: - the duo/ensemble consists of guitarists only, other instruments aren’t allowed
-All members of the duo/ensemble belong to the right category (age), supervisors are not allowed on stage
-Each member of each duo/ensemble should apply for the masterclasses.
-Members can apply for a solo masterclass, but they can also join to have a (longer) duo/ensemble masterclass.
2nd category: amateur guitarists of 16 and up:
8 minutes; programme of free choice
1st category: conservatory students and professional guitarists:
first round: 6 minutes - programme of free choice
final round: 20 minutes - programme of free choice, containing at least 2 different style periods
N.B.!
You can only participate in the Guitar Competition if you follow a masterclass as well. This does not necessarily need to be a classical masterclass. A Flamenco or a Jazz/Improvisation workshop will do.
Taking part in the Guitar Competition will cost an extra € 10,- on top of the masterclass fee.

Jury:
The jury will consist of several renowned European guitarists and classical musicians.
Prizes:
3rd Category:
1st prize: a large set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
2nd and 3rd prizes: a modest set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
2nd Category:
1st prize: a large set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
2nd and 3rd prizes: a modest set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
1st Category:
1st prize: € 1000.- and a large set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
2nd prize: € 500,- a large set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
3rd prize: A large set of guitaristic prizes, guitar CDs and guitar gadgets.
