What are the requirements for music school pupils who want to participate?
If you like playing the guitar and if you can play pieces in which you have to play base and melody simultaneously, e.g. pieces from uit “Hit the strings” by Patrick van Gerven, of ‘Gitarra Tirando” by Joep Wanders, you can join the masterclasses and the competition. You don't have to be highly talented. We think that it's more important that you enjoy playing en enjoy being taught by a famous guitarist.
The competition offers you an opportunity to play in a real theatre.
It is possible to take part in the masterclasses and workshops without joining the competition, if you feel joining the competition is too big a challenge for you.
What are the requirements for joining the Festival Ensemble?
Guitarists of all levels can join in! You are most welcome, even if you've just started playing the guitar and can only play open strings.
The main thing is, you enjoy playing with us!
What are the requirements for amateur guitarists to participate?
If you have some experience and are a passionate amateur, you can succesfully and cheerfully take part in the Guitar Festival. Participating will certainly help you to play on a higher level, you'll enjoy being taught by a master guitarist!
The competition offers you the opportunity to perform in a real theatre. If you don't want to join the competition: it's also possible to follow masterclasses and workshops just like that.
What are the requirements for my pupil to participate?
For the 3rd category (up to 16) two-part playing will do, participation should be a motivating experience. Your pupil doesn't have to be highly talented.
Older pupils will be more at ease if they are able to play pieces like the Giuliani etudes, easy Tarrega-pieces, Carcassi. It also goes for older pupils that they should enjoy to participate, we'd like it to be a motivating experienc to them.
