Duo Sonhos Latinos

Written by TGFPR. Posted in Concerten, Concerts Thursday 25 May 2017, Outdoor stage Oude Markt

Duo Sonhos Latinos consists of Andreas Haakshorst from Germany (singer) and Daphne Hodes from the Netherlands (gitarist). They’ve met each other at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede (NL), where Andreas studies Jazz singing and Daphne finished her studie classical guitar in 2015. Comming from different backgrounds, the performance of their repertoire is a mix of musicgenres. With the warm, dark, jazz voice of Andreas and the classical, warm and also bright way of playing the guitar by Daphne this duo can be called unique. Most of the pieces they play are arranged by Andreas Haakshorst himself. They play jazz/popmusic with their own twist, but specialize in Bossa Nova’s by o.a. Ceatano Veloso and Paulinho da Viola. An important influance in these pieces is the journey Andreas made to Brazil. He learnt about the cultur and heared the music from nearby. He also did a language course Portuguese. Beside that, the duo has a special love for Tango music. They play o.a. pieces by A. Piazolla and Garlos Gardel.
