EMinENt Duo started in 2012 as a project of baroque music in Vienna, where both musicians finished their studies: Japanese violinist Moeko Sugiura and Slovenian guitarist and composer Nejc Kuhar. Soon after their successful debut performance, they began to perform frequently as a duo. They are active in performing internationally, including concerts in Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Croatia, Belgium, etc. In the year 2015 the duo received a 1st Prize at International Chamber Competition in Bale-Valle (Croatia) and in 2016 a 1st Prize in Enschede (Netherlands), 1st Prize absolute Gold Medal in Gorizia (Italy) and 1st Prize at Parma Chamber Competition (Italy).

Moeko Sugiura studied at Tokyo University of the Arts (BA), and at Vienna Konservatorium Privatuniversität with Thomas Christian, and Pavel Vernikov, where she graduated her Master’s degree with honours in 2015. Whilst her studies she played frequently with the Wiener Symphoniker, which includes tours in Japan, Germany as well as concerts in Vienna Musikverein and Konzerthaus with renowned conductors. During her studies she received 1st Prize at Edogawa Philharmonic Orchestra Soloist Competition, 1st Prize at Kobe International Competition and 1st Prize at Nagoya Student Competition in Japan. In 2014 after receiving 100 percent positive votes from the orchestra, she now is a permanent member in Philharmonie Baden-Baden.

Nejc Kuhar received his Master’s degree with honors in guitar and in composition in Vienna (guitar with prof. Alvaro Pierri and composition with Dr. Reiner Bishof and prof. Christian Minkowitsch). As a guitarist as well as a composer, he won numerous 1st prizes, such as Altheim in Austria, Changsha in China, Treviso and Acerra in Italy… His music has been performed in prestigious venues, including concerts in Vienna Musikverein, Vienna Konzerthaus, Washington National Gallery of Art, Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Slovene Philharmonic Hall, etc. He is also published by Canadian publisher Les Production d’Oz. Also featuring at TGF 2018: Gerhard Reichenbach!

D’Addario artist Gerhard Reichenbach since a long time belongs to the leading european guitar
He is regularly invited for solo recitals to the international guitar festivals and he played in prestigious
concert halls like for example the Berliner Philharmonie and the International House of Music in
Moscow. Together with orchestra he performed a large number of standard repertoire concertos as
well as unknown concertos like the Concerto op.77 by Gerard Drozd or the Concerto for guitar and
chamber orchestra by Boris Asaffiev. Experts and reviews agree in praising his instrumental dexterity,
his stage presence and – especially in his audacious transcriptions of the music by J.S. Bach – the
extraordinary clarity in handling polyphonic texture on the guitar. His last solo album, a LP/Video
recording of Bachs piano partitas 1&3 is valuated in the reviews as „an album that belongs into the
collection of every guitarist“ (Akustik Gitarre). The world famous harpsichord and piano virtuoso
Andreas Staier says about the same recording: „A really interesting recording which I like very much,
the music is phrased lively and with intelligence.“
Gerhard Reichenbach is also a festival organizer (Vissani Guitar Festival Greece, Thessaloniki Guitar
Club, Internationales Bergisches Gitarrenfestival, Gitarre Wuppertal 1.0) and a passionate teacher. His
students are regularely winning awards at international competitions and they have successful cariers
as teachers, university teachers and performing artists.
After a period of teaching at the Franz Liszt Academy in Weimar and at State Conservatory Thessaloniki
in Greece, in 2009 he was appointed as Professor at the University of Music Cologne.
He was awarded with the Cultural Award of the city Velingrad (Rhodopes, Bulgaria) for his intercultural
activities in the Balkan countries and with the Enno Springmann Cultural Award of the city Wuppertal
in Germany.
