Cigarbox @ Twents Gitaarfestival

The cigar box guitar is a primal musical instrument and came from the USA to Europe.

I.a. the poor people on the cotton plantations in the Mississippi Delta had no money to buy expensive guitars and they built themselves from old broomsticks a few wires as a string and an empty old cigar box as a sound box and played music that we now know as the blues!

What do we do:

Under the guidance of Cigarbox Henri from we build an acoustic, 3-string, unfretted cigar box slide guitar (the original model). Suitable for both beginners who have never had a string instrument in their hands as well as advanced players.

Duration of the workshop is about 2.5 hours and that includes lessons in some nice fat blues and rock licks. As an extra, it is even possible to build in a piezo element on site, so that the guitar can also be connected to an amplifier.

Advance notice in connection with the preparation of the instruments is required. And whether you want a left- or right-handed person, if you ant a kidsguitar and whether or not you want an element in it.
